Wisdom teeth don’t always cause problems, but sometimes they can lead to pain, swelling, or misalignment. At Preston Dental Group, we carefully evaluate each patient using digital X-rays to determine whether a wisdom tooth extraction is necessary. Whether it’s a simple removal or a surgical extraction, we prioritise comfort and safety every step of the way.

At Preston Dental Group, your comfort is our priority. We use local anaesthetic to make the procedure as painless as possible. You may feel some mild discomfort or swelling afterwards, but this is usually manageable with pain relief and proper aftercare.
Healing time depends on the complexity of the extraction. Gum tissue generally heals within 1–2 weeks, while surgical or impacted wisdom tooth removals may take a little longer. We provide clear aftercare instructions to help your recovery.
Most patients can return to normal activities within 1–2 days for simple extractions. For more complex cases, such as impacted teeth, 2–3 days of rest is recommended to minimise swelling and discomfort.
Stick to soft foods initially and avoid chewing on the extraction side. Avoid hot, spicy, or crunchy foods for the first few days. Gradually return to your usual diet as you heal, and avoid drinking through a straw to prevent complications.
